These kinds of dental equipment are often better at removing debris from your teeth and gums because they use vibrations to help dislodge food particles and other things from your teeth. Electric flossers are particularly helpful because they are often easier to get between your teeth than a standard flosser.

Don't assume that just because oranges and orange juice are touted as healthy for your body that they are healthy for your mouth. The acidic nature of this and related foods start wearing down on your enamel immediately. You can have them, but brush immediately after consuming anything involving heavy concentrations of oranges.

Keep your toothbrush as clean as can be. Otherwise, you may be attracting bacteria to the bristles that then infect your mouth! Wash the bristles after every brushing, and stand your toothbrush upright so that any additional water drains down the brush. Be sure to replace your brush every few months even when you clean it well.

When flossing, gently slide the floss up and down the sides of BOTH teeth. Also, slip it beneath the gums and slide it back and forth to clear out any gunk. There are also brushes you can use which slip between the teeth and clear out anything left behind if floss doesn't do a good enough job.

Do a home teeth whitening treatment. There are a few ways to do this, but the most popular way is to rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide for a few days. Because what's amalgam filling can damage your enamel, you should not do it too often, but it can certainly brighten your smile without too much cost.

Get dental insurance. There are a variety of dental insurance plans available. You may be able to purchase dental through your employer's health insurance plan. If not, you can still get dental insurance independently. Even a very basic dental plan can save you a lot of money. Basic dental insurance plans are often very affordable.
